Want to go all out this year when it comes to pampering your mom for Mother’s Day?

Here are 14 ideas to get you started:

Breakfast in Bed

The best way to begin Mother’s Day is by treating your mom to breakfast in bed.

There are so many different special breakfast dishes that you could cook up, but try to pick something that you know your mom will love.

Here are a few ideas:

  • Apple pie pancakes
  • Baked eggs
  • Cinnamon and salted caramel bread
  • Chocolate chip scones
  • Waffle cupcakes
  • Pancakes with honey

Not able to cook for your mom yourself?

You could always order her a breakfast from one of her favorite restaurants. Many eateries have put together special menus for Mother’s Day – just make sure you book the breakfast well in advance, in case others have decided to do the same!

Spa Day

There is nothing quite like a spa day to help your mom rest and relax. Ideally, it should be a spa day for the both of you, as this activity makes for a fantastic bonding experience too!

Many spas are offering Mother’s Day packages that feature a variety of different treatments, making it easier than ever to book yourself and your mom in for one.

Want to make the day even more special?

Speak to the spa about arranging for a bottle (or two!) of champagne to greet your mom on arrival.

At-Home Spa Day

Can’t make it to a spa for Mother’s Day?

There’s no reason why you cannot arrange an at-home spa day instead!

Wondering what this would consist of?

Begin by choosing a room in the house to completely transform into a relaxing sanctuary. Candles, clean linen and soothing music are all a must! Herbal teas and champagne will also add to the experience.

When it comes to the actual treatments…

Start with a facial steam. All you need for this is a pot of water and some essential oils.

Then, move on to a face mask, followed up by a hair mask.  If you feel like trying for a bit of opulence, you can always treat your mom to a luxurious gold face mask.

Once you’re done with that, you can then either give your mom a massage, or hire a professional masseuse to treat the both of you to a relaxing massage.

A manicure and pedicure also work well for an at-home spa day, whether you do this yourself or bring in a professional.

Finish off by running a warm bath for your mom, throwing in some Epsom salts and essential oils to make it even more decadent.

Don’t forget about snacks either! You can either go down the healthy route, with fresh fruit and vegetable sticks, or go for something more indulgent, such as chocolate-dipped strawberries.

Skin Care Hamper

Food hampers have become so common, so how about doing something a little more original and putting together a skin care hamper for your mom instead?

This can be as small or as large as you want, and the advantage to creating your own hamper (rather than purchasing a pre-made one) is that you can tailor the products to suit your mom’s skin concerns.

Not sure what to include in the hamper?

Try adding in products from each stage of your mom’s skin care routine, such as:

Look for products that have been formulated with plenty of botanicals and other anti-aging ingredients, since this is likely to be appreciated even more by your mom.

Not sure where to start? You may want to try the 24K DMAE Collection, which is formulated with the key ingredient Dimethylaminoethanol Tartrate (DMAE), helping to refine the look of wrinkles and give the skin a smoother finish.

Home Decor Makeover

This idea does require quite a bit of time and dedication, but it will really surprise your mom!

Is there a part of your mom’s house that could do with a makeover?

It doesn’t need to be a large space, as you can still work plenty of magic on smaller sections of the house.

For example, try turning a part of your mom’s garden into a vegetable plot, or set up a mini library in a cozy area of the house.

If you can’t think of any home makeover ideas, why not just give your mom’s home a top-to-bottom clean instead? She will definitely appreciate waking up to a sparkling home, especially if this follows on from breakfast in bed!

Mother’s Day Party

Moms are busy women, and can sometimes find it difficult to set aside enough time for socializing.

Well, why not take matters into your own hands and throw a Mother’s Day party?

You could invite the people nearest and dearest to your mom, making this party as intimate or as extravagant as you like.

Need some party inspiration?

Here are a few ideas:

  • A garden party
  • An afternoon tea party
  • A brunch party
  • A formal dinner party
  • A barbecue

Meal Prep

While breakfast in bed will always be appreciated, cooking up your mom’s meals for the week will likely be loved even more!

This will give your mom a break from cooking, which is especially important if your mom usually ends up spending quite a bit of time in the kitchen.

Never cooked a week’s worth of meals before?

You just need to be organized – come up with a list of meals that your mother will love, and then purchase all of the required ingredients. Then, simply cook each dish, portion it up and place them in the freezer.

During the week, all your mom needs to do is remove one of the meals from the freezer and heat it up.

Mom-Inspired Day Out

Moms often find it difficult to have enough “me time”, but this is something that you can arrange for on Mother’s Day.

Begin by thinking up of some activities that your mom enjoys, as well as places that she likes to visit.

Then, plan your day based around these.

You could begin with brunch at your mom’s favorite restaurant, followed up by a trip to a museum. Or, spend the day on a shopping spree around your mother’s favorite stores, treating your mom to whatever she wants!

Sign Your Mom Up for a Class

Is there something that your mom has always wanted to try? This could a skill, a sport, or literally any other type of activity.

If so, there are likely to be classes local to you that you can sign your mom up for.

You can either opt for regular classes or a one-off session – choose whichever your mom would prefer!

Plan a Short Break Away

One of the best gifts that you could give your mom is a vacation. After all, every mom loves the chance to sit back and relax for a while!

Have a think about the places that your mom has always wanted to visit, and then try to plan the trip around this.

Ideally, book the trip for Mother’s Day weekend itself. However, if you can’t, you can always book it for a later date, but tell your mom all about it on Mother’s Day.

Want to up the ante even more?

Go first class and luxury with everything you pick, from flights to accommodation. This will definitely help to make your mom feel extra special!

Scrapbooking Session

This is a great activity to bring back plenty of old memories, resulting in a day of total family bonding!

Arrange this in advance with other members of your family, asking everyone to bring in photos and other types of memorabilia.

Then, gift your mom with a brand new scrapbook, along with some pens, glue and other crafty supplies.

You will all have so much fun putting the scrapbook together, and it will really remind all of you of the fantastic times you have had as a family in the past.

Wine Tasting

Is your mom a wine fan?

If so, an afternoon or evening of wine tasting will provide hours of fun!

You can book the both of you in for a wine tasting at a local restaurant or bar, but you will likely end up enjoying the day so much more if you organize a wine tasting at home.

How do you go about doing this?

You will need a few bottles of wine, preferably at least six.

Which wines should you choose?

Go with a theme to make this easier. You could go for wines of the same style, such as dry white wines or dessert wines, or opt for different wines that come from the same region. If your mom has a particular variety of wine that she enjoys, such as a Pinot Noir, try finding some bottles of this that have come from different places. A Pinot Noir from New Zealand will taste so different from a Pinot Noir from California, and it can be so interesting to taste these side by side.

If you want to make this a blind tasting, make sure that you have decanters available to pour the wine into from the bottle. Alternatively, you could also use a cover of some sort to wrap around the bottle, so that the label cannot be seen.

Make tasting notes as you go along, and then reveal the identify of each wine once you are done discussing it.

Don’t forget to also stock up on plenty of palate cleansers, even if these are just simple items, such as bread or water crackers.

If you really want to go all out, try looking up a few foods that pair well with your chosen wines. Everything from cheese to chocolate to nuts can really help to make the flavors in different wines stand out.

What about if your mom doesn’t like wine?

Pick whichever drink is her favorite! Try a gin tasting, or a whisky tasting. You could even turn the event into a cocktail tasting if your mom would enjoy that more!

The Gift of Sleep

If you know that your mom could do with more restful nights in her life, this is something that you can help to arrange.

How?

By pampering her with everything that she needs for a peaceful night’s sleep.

A luxurious mattress is always a good idea, as this is something that can instantly improve how well a person sleeps at night. Some new pillows are also a must, and make sure that you also purchase some bed linen to go with all of this. Silk or satin are decadent but so comfortable, and will make your mom feel like a queen!

You could also add in a few extras for your mom’s bedroom, such as:

  • An aromatherapy diffuser
  • A humidifier
  • Scented candles
  • Calming artwork
  • Herbal tea blends that promote sleep

Books and Magazines

Does your mom love to read?

If so, she will definitely enjoy receiving a selection of books and magazines for Mother’s Day!

Mature woman reading a book in the garden

If you’re having trouble choosing books that your mom will like, take a look at the books that she has purchased in the past. You should be able to use those titles to then get recommendations of other books she will probably enjoy.

When it comes to the magazines, choose a range of titles, including a few of your mom’s favorites along with some magazines that she may not have tried before. If there is a magazine that you know your mom really likes, you could go the extra mile and sign her up for a subscription to that magazine.

Of course, now that your mom has all of this reading material, make sure that she also has enough time to actually read them. Take over some of her daily chores and errands, insisting that she sits back, puts her feet up, and spends that time reading instead.

It can be difficult to come up with creative ideas to spoil your mom on Mother’s Day, but this list should have you covered. Spend some time planning this special day, so that you can really show your mom just how much she means to you.
